Driftwood issue

So I got this driftwood, it still floats so I tied it to a rock with rubber band. Now what concerns me is that the driftwood might float or maybe displaced because of bulldozing ivory snails (the driftwood can be easly moved by my finger) and some unobservable force of water in the tank .. This could potentially free the wood, allowing it to float to the surface and worst, the rock that is tied with it will fall and could roll down and break the glass. I have this problem before when I first kept an aquarium.. It break my aquarium glass and its very upsetting. . Any ideas guys on how to fix this problem ?

 

you should take out the driftwood and boil it and let it soak for 1-2 days (unless it starts sinking before that)

I boiled it like 10 times and it still not sinking. Its not porous, so it could take longer than 1 or 2 days or longer a week.

 

Chuck it into a bucket of water and leave it.

When its ready, it will sink. I had a piece that took close to 6 weeks before it got the message that it was meant to sink.

I believe i got this drift wood around 5 months ago ... Well not really a driftwood before.. But a fresh cut. The wood does not release any tannins now due to several (months) boiling and soaking.

Ok so what I did now is I removed the wood and I will soon replace it iwith smaller pieces once they are ready. Im too scared to keep it in my tank. Thanks anyways.
