    What kind of wood is this?

    I'm not really sure but it looks like some Cypress I've got.
    I've heard it's not good in tanks and when i tried it it made my water foam:;dk and tinted the water.

    The fish didn't seem to mind in fact several spawned but I eventually took it out.

    Some woods have oils in them and are not good to use in our tanks, even though it was very old and dry I guess it was not suitable. It looked like soap suds on top of the water. There was no odor. When I took it out several months later the tank quit foaming.

    It's really hard to look at a pic and tell what kind of wood it is.
