Driftwood Growing Roots??

I recently got this small piece of driftwood from an aquarium shop. I boiled it for a couple hours and waterlogged it and has been in my tank for about a week. I noticed it starting growing these root looking things out of it which I thought was odd. What could this be? I attached a photo, thanks!

I’d lean toward some sort of plant, kinda looks like an Anubias root.
Either way , if it’s survived a boiling I’d go one of two ways personally.

1– leave it and see what grows . Could be cool what comes out !

2– pull it out, get the root off , give it a quick scrub and put it back.

I highly doubt the wood is growing roots , it’s more likely somethings attached and growing. Also in the background of the photo it looks like you have an Anubias ( with a deficiency ) planted in substrate , I could be wrong though .

Kind of reminds me of when a potato starts growing out roots when it has been sitting in the bag awhile.

yes it is an anubias, and i’m replacing my substrate soon as it’s not been giving my plants enough nutrients and i’m adding in a planted substrate. i’ll let it grow out and see what it is. thanks for the help!
