Driftwood From Lfs With Plant Already On It

HI guys, I want to add a piece of driftwood to my tank that has just finished cycling. My intention was to buy some driftwood from the LFS, boil it, soak it then add it to tank and try to attach a plant to it, was looking to do java fern.

I have seen the LFS sells driftwood from their tanks that already has a plant growing on it. I see some advantages to this in that the driftwood is already cured/waterlogged and such. And that I wouldn't have to try attach the plant myself.

But I was wondering do you quarantine driftwood from a LFS tank? In fact do you quarantine plants at all? Is it risky to add a piece of driftwood to my tank that I'm unable to boil cause of the plant attached to it?

Thanks in advance for advice

I would quarantine it in case of pest snails

Careful, I got a nasty case of black algae that way once.

Hmm I think I will just buy a piece of driftwood, boil/soak it and attach the plant myself.

Better safe than sorry thanks guys

I added one from my LPS forgot to wash it and cause a Ich outbreak. Bought one online soak it for a month with tank water. Added it with no problems ever.

Hmm okay, thanks for sharing

Do you quarantine plants normally as well or do you only quarantine cause of the driftwood?

You can quarantine fish, wood, and plants, if you want to be extra careful.
