Hey all!
I am posting my first question to the forum to end my streak of only answering them because this is really important to me.
My dragonscale betta Cobalt is acting very differently recently before I get into it I'll do a short tl;dr
TL;DR
Cobalt is laying on the gravel of his 10 gallon breathing is normal, no other signs of illness, he eats, reacts when I come open to feed, moves when I change the water, etc. Parameters are normal 0 ammonia 0Nitritite <5 Nitrate. What do I do?
This planted 10 gallon is my oldest tank with my oldest living fish (as in I've had him the longest, I've adopted older fish). I've had cobalt for almost a year and I bought him as a breeding male for my dragonscale female. They mated two times successfully before she, unfortunately, passed away. Cobalt has always had a fin issue, first,he chewed them, then he got rot, then he chewed them again. In the last four months,it has really gotten better. However, he has stopped displaying for his mirror (and for me, as he used to in the past) he doesn't explore any of the new plants I buy him, and he is just generally sad. He eats and poops fine, but doesn't jump for food like he used to.
I tried almond leaf, as I had some extra from my Discus tank and saw no improvement. I make my own food and he love the stuff, using a recipe from here (bloodworms, peas, etc.). I've been using silver to help his fins and it's really been working. I'm very worried and would love any advice on this.
Best,
Mason
