So went to a LFS near my house and saw a Dovii being sold! Never seen one for sale before.

Ohh I thought that was another piece of plant. Like that brownish one that's growing next to the green plant. What type of fish is that?

Yah, they have even worse relationship problems than Mr. & Mrs. Ram Cichlid.

It says you need at least a 300 gallon tank just to have one..

I'm guessing it has to be by itself?

Not necessarily... I know a guy who has a male with female red devil. They spawn all the time. The dovii is probably a good 20 inches and the RD is 8 to 10. She beats the tar out of him if he gets too close to the fry. It's pretty funny. But for the most part, unless your talking 700+ gallons, they are best kept as wet pets.

Yeah. Behold Mr. & Mrs. Dovii Cichlid..

I feel bad for the Mrs. She has to hide all day so she doesn't get mauled or something. =(

If I had one, and whenever I had guests, I'd be all, "Oh come see my fish! Want to feed him!?" Then step back and watch the show. Hahaha

How would the guy in the video go about cleaning the tank since the fish is so aggressive? Id be afraid I was going to lose my arm if I reached in there!!! Super cool fish but certainly not one on my wish list, lol.

You clean the tank with long gloves and long handled tools.

They're not as aggressive as several other species that I can think of, and they're not the largest, either. Umbies are bigger and meaner, Red Devils are just meaner. I've seen a 16 inch Red Devil draw blood and appear to enjoy it. They are not that rare in some areas, one breeding pair and you have hundreds flooding the market. The price on that tank is outrageous for the size of the fish, but if you don't see a lot of them in your area, I suppose it could be justified. I am sure you can get them much, much cheaper online.

That maybe true of the Umbee cichlid but they are generally slower moving and not as muscular as the Dovii.
