Dosing And Carbon

When dosing ApI leaf zone should I take my carbon filter out or is it ok to keep it in? I've had my tank set up for about a month and my dhg is thriving like a ****. I dose every other day(just a little not a lot. I feel when the plants get a big dose they can't accept all the nutrients at once).

Carbon is on of those debatable items... I don't use any in my tanks, it MAY remove some ferts... truly a matter of debate and personal preference.

 

Really? My planted tank is a nano like 2.5 u would recommend no carbon? U got pics of ur tank??

 

I have 12... smallest is a ten... haven't had to use any carbon except for removing meds once... some people love it, most don't need it, realistically I don't think it removes ferts but it may, lots of debate about it...

Thank buddy, I have a40 gal breeder I'm turning into a planted tank when I move in a month or so. I'm super excited I love the plates an natural habitat for the fish

Agree, I do not use carbon in my filters, I have some on hand in case I need to clean out meds. It becomes useless after a few weeks anyways. Yes, this is debated quite often whether or not it removes ferts. (just recently in fact) Here is the link. Take a look. Hope this helps.

Agree with Jocelyn, I also never run carbon but use Purigen instead in my planted tanks.
