don't want to upset my fish...

hI everyone, I was wondering if it is better to do water changes at the same time of day or if it doesn't matter (to my fishies)? Also, does it bother the fish to rearrange the plants and rocks often? My 7 year old and I haven't quite agreed on the appearance of the tank yet, and have changed things about 3 times in 3 weeks...we're still not satisfied! thanks!

Re: water changes, it doesn't really matter. Re: rearranging, that can actually be good for some fish. Gives them a new place to explore.

Mine actually seem to like the water changes, for some of them I pour the water gently up and down the length of the tank, kind of like rain.
Boxermom's right about giving them new places to explore, it can also uncover uneaten food too

My bettas race to get under the water as I'm pouring it, maybe it feels like a ride at the water park! They also play in the filter water as it comes out. All my fish seem to enjoy having their toys swapped out, plants moved around. Like it's a whole new tank every couple of weeks!

HI Hopesmom. As Boxermom says, they're stimulated by changes in their deco, so keep swapping!

Oh, and what they really like during water change: if you use a watering can. They'll play in the 'rain' drops. The advantage is that then it's absolutely not upsetting for the fish (or the deco/substrate).
