I say it’s half moon. Also, it seems to be a male, not a female IMO. The fins look too long to be a female.

I agree with bettasXD he looks to be a male halfmoon.

ARE YALL SAYING LOLA IS A GUY. LOL well thank you guys. but i do have some concerns. wondering if his fins have gottten too long and that’s why he’s having trouble swimming. i know bettas aren’t the best swimmers that’s why i don’t have much of a flow in his tank. it’s all very slow. for the last month i’d say he’s just been not as active as he usually is and his fins seem very thin. i’m super careful with my betta tank because i know he can get his tail caught in stuff and i feel like he must have did that, some of his tail is missing. he’s eating regularly, no signs of fin rot. is there any reason why a betta would be sitting in a corner or just on the floor of the tank? i’ll post some pics rn of my tank and of his fins
thank you! i love bettas. they are amazing little fish. and HIS color has definitely developed which is awesome :)

Is old is he? Sometimes when bettas get older they just aren’t as active as before.

You should run a pantyhose over the decorations you have because if the pantyhose snaps, that decor has a sharp edge that could tear his fins. You will either have to sand that part or remove the decor.

And yes, I’m saying that Lola is a boy.

Btw beautiful tank!

Normally stores sale their bettas at 1-1.5 year old unless you bought him as a baby betta. I meant how long have you had him, sorry for being unclear.

That means he is around 2-2.5 years old. Don’t think arhat really old yet. Then I’m not very sure why he isn’t as active. Are the water parameters normal?

yeah everything is normal. ammonia and nitrite 0 nitrate is 5. i’m not sure either i’m sad tho because he use to love when i put new stuff in his tank. and i had bought some new decor for him yesterday and i haven’t seen him check things out yet he’s kinda been near the top all day :(

I know the feeling. When my betta became less active and stopped checking out the decor that I put in I also felt sad. Might just be changes in personality I guess.

yeah sad day. i love all my animals. i went out today and got a sponge to cover the filter intake, some new fluval bug bites just soemthing for him to try lol. and i’m gonna give his tank a clean, i believe he might have some fin rot so i wanna keep his tank clean. and then add some salt. i’m hoping that’s why he just not feeling well and then when i fix this he will be back to his normal self

oh and i also ordered off amazon a light dimmer that should come later so i’ll be able to try that out. hoping that makes him feel comfortable too!

you could put indian almond leaves or rooibos tea (no additives) see if that helps.

There are two key pieces of information missing here: temperature and water changes. Many fish get lethargic if their tank gets too cool, and a lack of water change can also make them feel not well. Can you give us the info we need?
