Does My Betta Have Ich? Intresting Color Change And Ate Stone

Hello,

This delta tail betta is my first betta in my first tank, and I need some real help here.

it's a 2.2-gallon tank - I put in the aqueon auto heater and the tetra i3. some gravel plus moss ball and 2 fake plants.
he seems very active and happy (sometimes to wild like nose down wiggles tumbles up etc..)

now after 2 weeks, I have a few concerns.
when I got him from Petco he was a very dark navy with purplish dark red fins and tail.
now his body is changing to a royal blue, his mouth whiting and greenish threads into the fins.
not sure if its natural or ich or something like that.

another concern he seems very hyper then he goes to hide behind heater or something he could be just out and about for a while - is that normal?

Lastly, I tried doing the gravel vacuum which I totally failed but in the mids, some small gravel particles came up and he fast ran after them and ate 2.

as of now 2 hours later he seems normal and active also his appetite and behavior seem ok.

Here are some pictures of the fish and tank - tried putting some clips and many pictures so you get the best idea.

2.2 gallons is a little small for a betta. So if at all possible try to get a new tank (5 gallon?) you could use the same filter, heater, gravel and decor so it would only be the tank, you would have to buy.

Now let’s focuse on the problem. Did you cycle the tank?

Bad water conditions are usually the problem with most fish issues.

I would assume the coloring is natural.

He most likely spit the gravel out immediately after realizing it wasn’t good, I would not be super concerned.

They key to a happy betta is clean water. Do a 30 percent water change each day for the next 2 weeks until the tank cycles itself.

Thank you Intermediate_Aquarist
After setting up the tank I filled with tap water added conditioner and let it cycle for 2 days now it is exactly 2 weeks after and I have done 2 30% water changes since

Okay! I don’t think it is quite cycled yet, but you are getting there! I would do a 50 percent water change today!

No Ich. Just natural colouring. Looks healthy and fine. Just fast him for a bit and let him poop it out. It also depends on how big they were.

He is so pretty. I am not sure why you think he has Ich, he looks healthy and good!

I agree with everyone here I do think you should take out those fake plants though as they could tear his fins the only fake plant you should have in there is silk plants or live plants

Thank you, its just my first betta and the rapid color change (from dark navy almost black to light blue and brighter tail) made me google it and the first thing that came up was ich so I felt I have to post some pics for people more experience and hear their opinion

could you please recommend me some real plants or silk- since it won't have much place to grow.
I guess sooner or later I will need a bigger tank anyway,

Hello I’m new to the fish world as well and yes I might be very wrong but it sound like your Betta has something called the jumping gene. They change collar and it’s very rare, but nothing is wrong with them physically.
