Question Does it matter where i place my HOB filters?

I am of the believe that it doesn't matter. Maybe if you have something going on like a power head or large air stone. But otherwise put it where you what.

nice. i learned that standard pre filters dont really work on the 50 intake size . as its just a bit long and there is a space open to the intank at the top because the sponge is too short.so everything gets sucked in there

I don't think it matters for a tank that size, unlike with 4+ foot tanks on which you should have two filters on either side of the tank.
You should be good no matter where you place the filters.

Typically you have one on each side for flow but like others said with tank size and it looks like you have a power head On the opposite side. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I am confused, maybe it is because I am not familiar with your tank and the HOB brand. What do you mean on the 5?
