Does Anyone Let Their Fish Watch Videos Of Other Fish?

I got a betta fish about a week and a half ago. He's very skittish around me, even when I sneeze he swims away and hides. He doesn't eat until I'm completely out of the room hes in, and all in all, he basically hates me. But I try my best to respect his boundaries so I don't scare him even more. I've been showing him videos of other betta fish on youtube. 20 to 40 min videos of bettas swimming peacefully, and he actually watches them! I put my screen up against his tank and let the videos play for him for a couple of hours. Its the most active ive ever seen him! He doesn't get angry and flare up, he just peacefully observes and even follows them around. Like they'll swim to one side of the screen and he'll swim and follow. I came back from work the other day and saw he had built a bubble nest, lol. I figured it was safe to assume he watched too much youtube and fell in love with another fish, so he made a nest. I mean could it be true? He's obviously paying attention to the screen. Its just weird how captivated he gets when I put the screen up to his tank. Its the only way I get him to come out of the corner he stays in when he's hiding from me. Does anyone else see their bettas reacting the same way to videos?

This is AMAZING! I don't have a Betta or have my fish watch videos... but I do let my cat watch "videos for cats" and she absolutely loves them lol

It doesn't even take that much to keep my fish captivated. I can run my finger along the outside of the tank and they will follow it for at least as long as it takes me to lose interest, but then I am ADD.

I'm definitely going to have to test this out! That's so cool that he responds to videos like that!

It doesn't let me attach a video, but it's really amazing. Sometimes ill show him videos of people drawing and he watches for a little bit, then he'll get bored. I'll change it to someones personal video of their betta fish swimming in their tank and he'll be GLUED to the screen. I have pictures but they don't to any justice to seeing him actually follow the fish in the video. But yeah definitely try it and let me know!!! Here's a link to one of the videos.

I don't like to show him anything violent bc he seems very wimpy and I don't want him to hate me even more lol. So that's a nice peaceful video for him.

Haha I've never heard of this before! I was immediately curious and showed my cat a 'video for cats' of birds chirping and flitting on and off the screen and she was captivated.
How cute! I bet goldfish respond too.

Beware your cat may get addicted like mine. She sits or lays in front of the TV all the time now and watches. Just in case a bird flies by. She smacked her head on the screen the other day, she saw the Windex commercial with the 2 crows on there and leapt up there so quick. I nearly peed my pants laughing at her
She is literally watching a blank screen. The TV is off
She figured out there is a TV in the bedroom too.

I have a clock that makes bird noises every hour and whenever it goes off my 3 cats are frantically looking to see where the sound is coming from, its hilarious. I think my dog actually watches the TV with us as well and barks if a character is knocking on the door or ringing a doorbell. Its hilarious.
