Does Anyone Have Any Info or Experience on aquarium chillers??

Vividdonut12

Thanks, I don't think anyone will have an answer to this but I will give it a shot:
I have been looking for a used aquarium chiller in good condition. I found a craigslist ad a moment ago and it says, "Model dbm-250. 1/4 hp. Compressor seized. Everything else in good condition."
Don't judge, but I have no idea what "compressor seized" is supposed to mean. Is there a chiller nerd out there who can help me out? Would the chiller still work in this condition??

I think it means it's scrap metal. I would Google around with the model # and see if there's a fix that doesn't involve replacing the compressor (which wouldn't be worth it).

Hi, welcome to Fishlore.
The compressor is what pressurises and pumps the refrigerant around the coils used to cool the water.
If the compressor is seized, I would look for a different unit. You'd need a professional to change it as it involves working with the refrigerant gas lines.
