As a person who goes by one of my middle names Jessica cuz no one is able to say my first name Kahlan(Kay -Lin). I was wondering if anyone else does too .Plus I was wondering if anyone has shorten their full name like I did cuz I hated writing my full name lol. That why Taleigh will have the choice of writing her the way she likes.

My name is Dillon, but a lot of my friends at school call me Rags (long story ) or Dill. A handful also started calling me Jeffy when they found out my middle name is Jeffrey.

I go by Lexi, short for Alexis. Don't feel bad, plenty of people miss pronounce Alexis, and it's not a odd spelling.

My grandpa and uncle both went by Ugene(middle name), because their first name was Harrell.

I have 4 names, counting my surname. The first 3 are "first" style names, as in not family surnames. I don't use my first; I never have. It's a family tradition. I use my second name, but almost never in its full 3 syllable form. I use a single syllable shortening, or one of two syllable shortenings.

My full second name is Olivia. When I was born, this was a very rare name; now it's one of the most common, so I like it a lot less.
I go by Liv, or Livs, or Livy, or Ollie, or any other number of mish mashes of my name, or one of a number of nicknames unrelated to my name, including "Squeaky".

I completely understand, Alexis wasn't all that common when I was in school, but became very popular around 2000. When I was a waitress I can't count how many times I heard "oh that's my daughter/niece/ granddaughter's name. It wasn't so bad before I was married because my maiden name isn't al that common around here, but once I got married, people have a ton of trouble finding my facebbok page, because my whole nam is now extremely common. I am considering going back and hyphonating my last name to correct this.

ROFL. The number of times I've almost been arrested for having "fake" ID, ids with different names on them, because most forms of ID can't fit all my names on them... I cannot imagine ever wanting to change my name to a husband's name, and making it MORE confusing! That's insane. But hyphenation seems to be the easiest way to go, legally.

Four first names? Is that a cultural custom?

I don't like either my first or middle names. I have a lot of nicknames most people know me by.

However, my grandpa went by his middle name (william) We didnt find out until adulthood that his first came was actually Caroll.
