Does anybody know anything about Sera Costapur.

Sera Costapur is a treatment for itch and it is based on malachite green and has no copper. I wonder if it is safe for shrimp, snails and khuli's. I used it before and my shrimp survived and seemed fine and it was really effective though at that time I did not have snails and khuli's.

So is malachite green harmfull to them?

 

Have you tried the heat method for treating ICH? I've never used sera costapur but I get nervous about using medication whenever kuhlis and inverts are involved but I haven't had to resort to medicating for ICH. Keeping the temperature at 86F for two weeks with a gravel vac every other day did the trick; thanks el337!

 

I'm not familiar with that med or if it would be safe to use with inverts. I definitely recommend the heat method for treating ich though because it would be safe for all fish and inverts!

Well I tried that and now one of my fish is dead. Though I am sure I did something wrong, I wasn't sure that she was dead though but she looked like the suffered so I did euthanasia on the fish by laying it in a bowl in the freezer. Are you sure that this is going to cure my fish?

 

Yeah I raised the temperature to 30 degrees celsius though one of the fish died unfortunately.

 

Did you use the med also? You'd need to use one treatment and not both the heat and meds at the same time.

Sometimes ich has progressed far too much in a fish that not all of them make it regardless of which treatment you use.

 

No do not use any medication. That platy that died had no ich and the other platy isn't doing well either. Her tail fin is hanging and she looks deformed.

 

It's not shrimp and snail safe.

Hold up for a second! Did you say that you euthanasia a fish by laying it in a bowl in the freezer? That is giving it a death sentence. Use clove oil!
