Does Amazon Sword need root tabs?

I recently got an amazon sword. I knew it needed root tabs but I couldn't find any. Instead I've been using liquid fertilizer. I've been following the instruction and putting it in as often as I safely can (.25ml twice a week). I have gravel as my substrate so the water can reach the roots. My anubias has been doing great but my amazon sword is growing extremely slowly (if at all). Should I look for root tabs or will the liquid fertilizer be enough?

Ok thanks! Where can I get root tabs? Also, how often should I put them in?

You could get by just doing liquid ferts, but they thrive with both. More root tabs than liquid.

You could get the root tabs online or at your local petsmart or petco if in america/canada. I use API Root Tabs.

You can break up one tab into smaller pieces and place it around the roots of the sword, every other month or once a month if you notice deficiencies still.

Ok thanks a lot I'll have to look into that.

Uh I’m not an expert on plants but I keep swords in sand with no root tabs, no fertilizer, no CO2 and they’re fine.
I just bought 2 swords and planted them in JBL fine sand. 48 hrs later and the smaller leafs are going brown. Did the same happen to you at first?

root tab and a nice nutrient rich substrate will make your swords beautiful

I’m pretty sure that can mean a lot of things. The plant may be in shock, but to go brown after just 48 hours is weird. I might just be lucky with my swords, if lots of others recommend root tabs, I would go with root tabs.

Swords are grown out of water a lot, and their leaves die off at first when they're put into water so they can re-grow underwater leaves.
