I noticed some grey-green stuff on the suckers of my heater, which I'm guessing was algae, but now it's mostly gone. Could my fish have been nibbling at it?

I have never seen my zebras eat the algae that my tank had when it was still new?
I guess it's possible, I mean zebras are very active and different personalites, one of my zebras eat my pleco's food from the bottom, and none of my other zebras do that, do I guess ? LoL
