Noticed I was scarce over the weekend?;D
Got stuck reading for a change! 'The year if the tiger' by Jack Higgins. Would have been perfect but for the coldblooded stuff. But nonetheless a great book!

Yes, I LOVE books. The other day I went to Barnes & Noble with my dad and got a book called "Twilight" in the teens section (I'm 14, after all). It's VERY good - one of the best books I've read. Basically, a girl falls in love with a vampire. But it's not that boring, cheesy stuff - it's very unique, full of amazing emotion, and well-written. I read all 500 pages in one day.

So far there are two more in the series and I hope to get them soon!

Aw, I love the last book! I cried several times - and then I cried again when it was over, knowing that was the last one. Haha. Don't worry, I won't give anything away.

I love to read though I don't do enough of it. HUGE Harry Potter fan (and ok with that). Also Lord of the Rings, Narnia, and Dragonlance. I recently read The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix. Highly recommended. Very good story. I stick to SciFi, fantasy and nonfiction educational (mostly fish related) stuff mostly. Oh yeah Steven Kings Dark Tower series. Not a big King fan but that is one amazing story. I've enjoyed a few Micheal Crichton (Jurassic Park, and a couple others) as well as a few of James Pattersons (Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls). Another series I recommend is the Chronicles of the Lensman by E.E. "Doc" Smith. You'll see some striking resemblances to Star Wars though it's a much older (and better IMO) story. There's a guy with a flying planetoid ship that blows stuff up and these lensman guys who have the force but it's not the "Force". I think Ol' George must have read it as a kid. Right now I'm slowly making it through a Dragonlance novel. Don't know if anyone is familiar. It's a series of books based on a Dungeons and Dragons realm. (Yup I'm that nerdy lol)

It's Ok Tayful. I'll admit I shed a tear or two when HP was all said and done. J.K. Rowling did an amazing job at developing her characters. It made it very easy to have something of an emotional connection to them. I just wanted to keep reading about them no matter what they were doing.

I used to read all the time before I got remarried. But now I don't at all. Well other than a saltwater book that I have. Since I got remarried 7 years ago, I think I've read one novel.

meh...different time for me.

I read The Lord of the Rings over xmas break (and watched the new extended versions of the movies that my dad asked for for xmas)...right now I'm reading The Silmarillion (a sort of history of Middle-earth, like a prequel to Lord of the rings). It's kinda boring at parts compared to Tolkien's other books (it's more of a history than a specific plot) but it's pretty good. Any other Tolkien fans?

Christopher Tolkien has made an entire career out of trying to make sence of the HUGE mountain of notes his father had in preperation of the LOTR and Silmarillon.

Books of Lost Tales 1 and 2
The Lays of Beleriand
The Shaping of Middle Earth
The Lost Road
The Return of the Shadow
The Treason of Isengard

I'm sure there are many more, but I lost track after those.

That's because J.R.R. Tolkien was an amazing genius of a man. Einstein had his theory and Tolkien had his vision, his tale. I hold these men equal in terms of genius. Yes I am a fan of Tolkien lol. The Silmarillion is an amazing achievement, though kinda boring, it has an tremendous scope.

I'll have to see which of these my dad has to either steal them from him to read or make him buy them (he's an even bigger Tolkien fan than I am anyway).

Mostly depends on the book, but I love to learn so reading has become a major factor in my life as far as general education goes. Not to mention the fun of reading something fictional every now and then.

I love the Harry Potter books too I think that they get a bad rep because they are children's books, but there is a whole side to them that most young children wouldn't understand. I have read the series from begining to end a few times, and each time I pick up on some aspect of the story that I missed the last time I read it.

I also love J.R. Tolkien's books. The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are my favs! I guess I just like fantasy books in general. They are kind of an escape from everyday life, if you know what I mean

My husband has read all of Clive Cussler I think. I just ordered the newest Stephen KIng; and am currently reading "I've Got a Home in Glory Land"- A lost tale of the Underground Railroad"..moving from all over the lower states up to Canada.

One route, interestingly enough , is from right around the area of Tennessee where Ross and Dino live.............
