Do You Keep Your Guppies In Community Or Species Only Tanks?

I'm just curious about whether all of y'all keep your guppies in species-only or community tanks!

I've seen both camps online while doing research for a future 20 or 40 gallon tank I'm hoping to have set up in the next few months. Thought it would be interesting to pick everyone's brains and here the reasonings for both sides.

Cheers!

Guppies are friendly, so as long as they're with other community-capable species, I don't see why not! I wouldn't keep guppies in, say, an angelfish tank, for example. But I currently have guppies with other livebearers and a female betta in my 55 gallon and everyone gets along great! The only reasons I don't like guppies in a species-only tank are (1) their numbers get out of control when they don't have a slightly predatory fish with them (hence, the female betta, my little baby-eating monster) and (2) they are very much top-layer fish, and I like to see more even activity throughout the tank.

I keep my guppies in a community tank with a bunch of other fish. One of those fish, are 3 female bettas and I have never seen any signs of aggression towards them.I don't see a problem with guppy community tanks

I've kept them in community tanks and tanks with just guppies, shrimp and snails.

It remains a personal preference whether to keep guppies in a community tank or a species tank. But yes, also I'm curious why someone would choose specifically one or the other.

Thank you everyone for the input! I was just curious as I'd seen both online and some people seemed to have very strong feelings about species-only tanks for guppies.

I just happen to keep mine as a species-only tank, if you don't count a few snails.
Of course, as I get more guppy fry, I can exceed the recommended stocking rate for only a 10 gallon tank, until I cull/give away some again.

If I didn't already have a lack of space, I wouldn't mind a community tank if the opportunity presented itself. I can be content with what I already have though, and slowly add more plants and upgrade as needed.

Species only cause I sell them to a local lfs but they do great in community tanks if you don't mind losing some fry

Community, just for variety. They cluster close together and I've heard to buy them in sets of three. So I've kept it at that, even when one kicked off here. Different fish have different behaviors so it's more interesting to get a variety.
