Do You Have Snow?

I'm not sure what the final tally was, but here on the Jersey Shore, it looks like at least 8-12".

I was out this morning in my lifted Bronco helping people who got stock. What blew my mind was that there were people out there driving, during a blizzard, with Camrys and Sonatas. What are people thinking?

Oh yeah, that stick coming out of the ground is my newly planted apple tree.

Yep, and it's utterly freezing here in Southern Ontario.
Here's a pic I took earlier (from the safety of the car haha)

I am not familiar with Canadian geography. Are you in an area that regularly gets feet of snow?

I'm in Vail Colorado......big skI resort town. This is the warmest, worst year for so snow I've seen here in years. When I say worst year for snow I mean we're not getting any! All of us skI bums here are very jealous of the snow the East is getting.

My wife is from Denver. But, in all her years there (20+), she never went skiing.

We get quite a bit of snow most years, but not usually more than 8 inches or so at a time. U.S cities like Buffalo on the other side of Lake Ontario get a lot more most of the time.
I'm actually pretty happy that we have a decent amount of snow right now since I love to ski

We get snow at least a few times a year, but I'm sure not as much as you. Some years, our worst storm might only be 4-6", and then some years (like now), we get a real blizzard.

I'm in N.W.Fl. a few weeks ago we got about a inch and that was more than I wanted to see, I've lived in MT. and some in the north east and central U.S. it would not hurt my feelings one bit if I never see it again.

Unluckily for me it only snowed two days around 20th December in the UK and we have only been getting rain since then. I really miss this time about 4+ years ago we would have really deep snow for a few months at a time.

I have a sister in Maryland. She said they got about the same.

As much as I dislike the cold, I enjoy taking my truck out and driving through snow that is a few feet deep. And helping the 'not-too-smart' people driving around when they shouldn't be.

I prefer off-roading on the beach (my profile picture), but this is a good second best option.

Completely off topic, but I see from your profile that you are a pilot. Commercial or private?

I am considering taking courses with the intention of getting my private license. My intention would solely be for recreational purposes (i.e. to have fun). There is a pilot's club near me that I am hopefully going to join. Just curious to hear your opinion.

I'm in southern California and I've never seen snow where I live. The only precipitation here is rain which we haven't got any since October.

Just checked my city's weather report and the high/low for today is 76/52F. Pretty warm.

I could deal with that. Although, I imagine I would miss snow after a while (until I experienced the cold again...).

I guess we're opposites. The coldest weather I've experienced is 24F in Canada and it was TOO cold for me. I'm not used to the freezing temps, haha.

My wife is from Denver, so she WAS used to the cold. But, we spent a few years in Georgia. That got her used to mild winters. The first winter after we moved to NJ, she was saying how cold it was.

I'm SO jealous! I live in the northeast and it's currently 15F and it's meant to drop to -3F sometime tomorrow night here which is WAY too cold for me. There are a few inches of snow which isn't too bad taking into consideration that we sometimes get 2+ feet but it still isn't my thing.

Yeah, I've seen it on the news! It looks horrible! I've heard that states as south as Florida got some snow too.

I’m in the Poconos and we barely got any snow, unlike you folks down the shore. I work in North Jersey and we were closed down yesterday. Woo for snow days. I have a cousin in Point Pleasant and I believe she mentioned they got over a foot of snow. But this cold...it’s so bad.

We are around 15 minutes from Point Pleasant. Still bitter cold. At least right now, there is not too much wind.

I guess I should look on the bright side. Better than -9°F. Although, if I recall correctly, this week we might get some sub zero temperatures...

-18c here before windchill

The dog will only go out long enough to do the necessary and I leave the door open for him to come in again so he’s not stuck outside

I love snow and even the cold to a certain point. That’s because I like dressing in layers. I actually think the weather is warmer when it snows. This is the point where I think it gets too cold. And no that’s not me, but a friend.

My parents are in Atlanta. I think they did not get, but Savannah did.

Sleeting right now on the Jersey Shore.

We had to move the snow bank so we could make a new one. Now we have two as high as our minivan and no place for a third

I'm in Moncks Corner near Charleston D.C.. We had 8" last Wed and Thurs that stuck around till yesterday. Many secondary streets still had ice until today bc they were not treated or plowed. Schools just went back today and some not till tomorrow.
IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO SNOW HERE. You can have it all back. S- n- o- w is 4 letter word.
My LFS hasnt had a delivery since FrI the 30th because of holidays and cold weather

We had rain and sleet yesterday/last night. This morning everything was iced over. Buses were delayed. I had one bus show up an hour late to my class.

I assume you mean Charleston, S.C.?

Beautiful city. My wife and I went there years ago and stayed at a bed and breakfast. Great time!

8"? Is that a record?

I remember when we were in GA, even a few inches of snow would shut down the city until it would melt. They had no equipment to plow/salt the streets.

Shut down EVERYTHING. Snowed 8 inches on Wednesday and the airport opened Saturday at noon. Working my part-time gig helping load the Carnival ship today and there was still slush on the dock and its been 65 degrees for 3 days in a row. Harbor water temp was 42 this morning and the normal is 50.

We don’t have snow in Portland but when the dandruff starts to drop the city shuts down and people panic. All it takes is 0.1 inch and everybody starts talking about snowmagedden or the “Winter Blow”.

Interesting. I have never been to Oregon (furtherest West I have been is Denver). Since Oregon is just south of Washington, which is just south of Canada, and also next to/near cold states (I think) like Idaho and Montana, I just assumed Oregon was a cold state.

It depends on what part of Oregon. The state itself experiences all seasons, again depends on where you are at. Rain is guaranteed.
