Do You Have Other Pets That React To Your Aquarium, Hilariously?!

My Pomeranian, he's a momma's boy. To the core. Separation anxiety. Never leaves my side. He's worse than the kids, and will plant himself in front of the bathroom door if I disappear behind it.

Now, this dog, he doesn't watch TV. He doesn't really show much interest in any thing aside from MY MOVEMENTS lol. I get up.... he gets up. I walk circles in the house, he's under foot. But our new tank......He's mesmerized. HAHA!

I about died one day, doing the dishes. I see, from the corner of my eye, he's got himself planted...chest to cabinet. Front paws spread from side to side. His lil nose going back and forth, back and forth. I'm like "Dude, what's your damage?" and he looks at me, whimpers and comes to me, jumps up on me, goes back to acting all crazed with the fish. Now, mind you, we've had the tank for a couple of weeks. Now all of a sudden, he wants to watch the fishies!

Anyone else have an animal that's completely taken by the fish?

For chits n giggles, I moved our gaming bench over, and voila! Puppy Perch! lol. He sat all proper with his legs crossed, paws over the side, just watchin' the fish.

I don’t know how funny it is, but our kitten (who is 10 months old now) is a holy terror. She has tortured my poor fish. Even reached in and killed one of our Bettas. It started out so innocently as her just sitting there and watching, and now it is all out war to keep her down off the tanks. I have 2 lids to cover my 2-10g tanks so she can’t reach in. She will even sometimes push the second lid off, to reach into the filter and see if she can squeeze her paw in to swipe at our remaining betta.

It has been awhile since I have had a ohh Ellie post, but for awhile there it was every few days lol

Oooh no!! So sorry to hear that! I think that's why I'm such a dog person, most cats that I know are terrors ha! Luckily, my dog can barely jump up onto our bed, let alone get at the fish's lid. So, for now I think we're golden Hopefully yours calms a bit. That'd be nerve racking for sure!

lol TV for cats...I like that. Careful, he might not be "interested" now, but he may very well be plotting his attack quietly! Cats are slick lil devils, patient too lol

We have a 15yo lab mix who couldn’t give a about the tanks. Our other cat, doesn’t look twice at the tanks at all. And she is a prolific hunter, but apparently birds are her thing, not fish lol

My 20yo daughter brought home the kitten, and said it was temporary. Soooo here we are 8 months later, she has no plans to move back out, or to take her kitten with her lol so this relationship was forced upon us. We have had 7 kittens/cats total over the last 25 years, and Ellie is the most difficult one we have ever had to raise. She is one of a kind for sure.

Oh boy. "Temporary"....lol. Well, hopefully it turns around. She's young yet. Maybe the older animals will give her a lil hint to slow her roll a bit One can only hope, right? lol.

My budgie will often try to play with the fish through her cage by bobbing her head, tapping the glass gently and fluffing herself up. The fish respond to her too by swimming near her up against the glass excitedly; it's super adorable!!

I know! I wonder if they have some basic level of understanding between eachother! Me and my budgie can understand eachother emotions through a kinda shared language we have, so I wouldn't be surprised if both my budgie and my guppies realise it is another living animal with emotions to some extent.

Before I banned my cats from the top of the tank, my 3 year old cat would drink out of the tank and my 8” goldfish would come up and kiss him on the nose. My cat never put his paws in the water and the two would just watch each other.

I’ve got a French Bulldog, and he bites the glass thinking he’ll catch the fish.
He has a thing for Albino Cory, and bettas,

My mutt does this as well for most of the fish, but tonight he went crazy when the gigantic mystery snail started trekking up the front of the tank.

Too funny! lol. Mine has started to whimper when I do water changes, feed the fish or stick my hand in the tank for any type of "remodel" or maintenance. It's hilarious. I keep having to explain to him to "Slow his roll, I'm not hurting them". It's either that, or he just wants to swat at and play/eat them. Who knows lol.

One of my cats thinks my tanks are for his entertainment purposes.
My female Koi betta likes to flirt tease him. He would love to catch her. I keep a tightly fitted glass lid on the tanks.

My husky sits in front of the tanks, tracking my betta with her head. She'll sit there for HOURS, watching him. And then she'l spot the fish food, and try to eat it.

When I was a teen, I had a very overstocked 10 gallon goldfish tank. The tank and my parrot's cage were on the same stand together. Rickie, my red lored amazon parrot, would climb down off of his cage to go look at the goldfish. The goldfish would come over and look at him; it was rather cute to see!

I love all my critters, the ones that swim and the ones that walk around, but so far they don't even know the other exists.

My dog loves watching our main front room tank. She sits on the couch starring at it for hours lol. Think she finds it as relaxing as I do.

She unfortunately has a very high prey drive, all cats are food in her eyes lol. So I can't keep any other fluffy animals in the house.
