I just read in the latest Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine that these guys eat this stuff with delight! How true is this? Do they eat other forms of algae/plants? They also mentioned that they do well in cooler temperatures and even ponds. Anyone have experience with them outside?
Rosy barbs are subtropical fish, so they could go down to 64 degrees, but the change needs to be gradual. I kept mine at 75 degrees, and they did spawn successfully. They're likelier to eat your plants before algae, depending on what you have in there. Mine even ate anubias. But if you don't feed them for a day or two, they might tackle blackbeard algae
