I have two mollies and I heard that platies can live with mollies. But do they need to be in groups? I just want to get two more fish that's it

First answer -
What is the size of the tank ?
Is there any male and female mollies ?
If yes , then there would be huge amount of fries as they breed like rabbits. Also your tank would be overstocked.

And I think both my mollies are males

They're not schooling fish so they don't need to be in groups.

That said, your tank is overstocked as is with the two mollies. I wouldn't add any more fish.

mollies need more space than a 10 gallon aquarium can provide. platies, however, would do fine in your 10 gallon. you could see if your LFS would let you trade your 2 mollies for 2 platies.

You can keep neon tetras as schooling fish.

neon tetras are not suitable for a 10 gallon aquarium
