Do Pea Puffers Eat Seed Shrimp?

Hi! So I want a pea puffer for my 5 gallon (I’m moving my RCS to my 30 gallon) but I have a bunch of seed shrimp (I think). I really like them, and I’m guessing a pea puffer would eat them all. Would he? If so, are there any fish that wouldn’t? Thanks

Yeah, dwarf puffers will eat seed shrimp. I'm not sure what fish wouldn't. Mostly any fish that could see them, I would assume would eat them. I had them in my tank for a while, but my betta was small enough at the time to see and catch them.

Aw man. Well, I figured that would happen. Might get a jar and a plant to keep some. I already have a jar of planaria lol. Thanks!

Puffers will eat anything they can fit in their mouths, bite anything they can get near and be eaten by anything which can fit them in their mouths... so they really should be a species only tank.

Not all puffers are like this, but better safe than sorry

They should love the seed shrimp as part of their diet!

Yeah if you're willing to breed them they would make a delicious snack

I don't know if you're aware, but seed shrimp are ostracods, not actual shrimp

Yes, I am aware. They are the tiny round things that bounce around on the bottom of the tank right?

Lots of fish including puffers should enjoy them as a snack.

I’ll put a few in a jar, see how they do. I know they’ll probably be a nice snack for my critters. Might throw a few in my 30 gallon, too. When I get another pea puffer, it’ll be cool to watch him hunt little speedy live things. I also have a bad snail problem, so probably won’t have to feed him for a while. I know, it’s only a five gallon, he’ll be the only inhabitant. And yes, I know they aren’t shrimp.

Just wanted to make sure! Some of what was being said made it sound like some people though they were actual shrimp
