Do ottos eat fish food?

Ottos and Cories.

Hi,

In reply to
...
That is possible but the reason I keep the cory in there is to eat up any he left over food that goes to the bottom. Can/do ottos eat fish food?
I have never fed my algae eaters (plecos or ottos) any type of food as I never have success in them eating it. They just don't know that its food for them to eat! So what I wanted to know is: will the ottos eat any left overs and keep nthe tank clean? And any idea what I could try feeding them (catfish) and let them know that its food to eat?
Thanks

Oto's are strictly vegetarians though may eat some flake if they have nothing else to eat but should not be expected too. Mine sometimes eat some of the veggie flakes since they are veggie but not usually tropical flakes but that's not what I feed them, they have wafers and cucumber as the main diet. I wouldn't worry about keeping your tank clean from leftover flakes, if you just feed a few at a time until they have eaten them all at the top not many will fall down onto the bottom. I would feed your oto cucumber, zuchini, algae wafers, and you can try other things too, those are the common things people feed them. The cory, sinking catfish wafers. You can get ghostshrimp to eat extra flakes.

shrimp are really interesting to watch and can be some good little workers in your cleaning crew.

I found out somewhere, its baby marrow.

Hey ppl, when I feed my fish freeze dried tubifex worms, my cory go to the top of the tank to eat it!! Once I even saw him swimming upside down on the water surface to get to the worms!

Cthulhu used to do that. He was the exact coloring of an upside-down catfish, so when he did it, it was like he switched species temporarily.

I have two panda corys in my fry tank with platy fry and the corys don't bother with them, even in the slightest!

Good. i'm hoping my molly will soon have molly/guppy fry and wasn't sure if they eat fry or not. what about neon tetras?

Neons will eat live foods (brine shrimp, worms and smaller fry) or frozen foods. Neons will do very well on just flake foods, but make sure they are getting enough to eat if they are in a community tank, as they are not very aggressive about feeding.

That'd be cool (if your guppies mated with your mollies and the fry survived)

Well yes, my molly has been pregnant since I don't when.

But pregnant by your guppy? For real? One thing never fails for making fish give birth: talk about it. I know that as soon as I started to wonder where all the fry was, they ALL popped.

D'you reckon the neons would eat the fry? I don't remember the first thing about neons although I used to have loads.

I've no idea on that.. i'd guess if the fry are small enough to look like food to the neons they'll go for them.

But that would be pretty small fry.
