Do MTS breed with one snail?

The only reason I’m asking this question is because when I was little I had one snail in one of my tanks and somehow it bred about 15 more snails. I’m also looking at nerites, but I want to know if either of them will breed with one snail. Thanks!

Yes MTS reproduce asexually (if you get a female) but you would need a male and female for nerites.

It's my understanding that:
  1. MTS have both sexual organs, so two are needed to reproduce, but it can be any two, and they give birth to fully developed (but very small) snails.
  2. Bladder snails are asexual so only one is needed, and they lay eggs.
  3. Nerites are male and female so only the females lay eggs, but they won't hatch (or the larvae won't live) in fresh water.
  4. I don't know about mystery snails, but it shouldn't be difficult to find out.

You might have mixed them up with a different snail, MTS are gonochoric so there are males and females, and they have the option of reproducing sexually but they can also reproduce via parthenogenesis.

I have a snail that made its way to my tank in some java moss that I cleaned and sifted thru well so it had to be very small I spotted him about a month after putting in the moss and now 3 months later I believe I have a few more or this guy gets around this tank pretty quick

Mystery snails are similar to Nerites as they are male and female. The lay their eggs outside of the water. The egg sacks are easy to remove if you don't want babies
