I have been hearing that mollys need brackish water I was wondering if it was true and if my other fish could thrive in brackish water with my molly. My other fish I have in with is a rainbowfish, veiltail cherry barb, Cory cat, and a bumblebee catfish.

Mollies do not need brackish water. Mollies bred in freshwater may struggle in brackish water. Most of your fish are soft, acid water fish and definitely would not work in brackish water.

I don't think mollies and rainbowfish are compatible. Mollies like their water harder and warmer.
Don't go brackish with those fish.
Have you got just one of each fish?

Mollies are okay in freshwater. I've kept them in freshwater for a long time, and they're healthy.

Mollies don't need brackish water.

But, given a good acclimation, mollies will thrive in brackish or saltwater much more than they would in freshwater, IMO. The only exceptions are the "True" freshwater mollies, that have been bred in freshwater for hundreds of generations. But, they're expensive and not found in your average LFS.

None of your other fish are really brackish, IMO.

Yes I have only one of each fish, I do know that they are kept better with school of their own species but I have noticed my cherry barb and rainbow fish had developed a bond with each other. They are always next to each other so I did not bother putting any more fish in because they looked happy. Thanks to every one for the info

Most mollies which are bred in captivity will do fine in freshwater. Wild strains do occur in both freshwater and brackish waters. But yes, some also do swim in marine water.
But it's true that the bigger fancy mollies when growing up to a reasonable big size do appreciate when some salt is added from time to time. But again, do most mollies need to swim in brackish water? Nope!
