Do Iridovirus From Dwarf Gourami Infect Angel Fish Or Other South American Cichlids?

Or the iridovirus found in fresh water angelfish a different strain? Can they jump species and infect any cichlids?

Is a different strain.

Ok I had a sometime back “adopted” 2 dwarf gourami. And it died of Irodovirus(my assumption as both developed symptoms and died. They both had all the symptoms including sores and slowly wasting away. Anyway this happened a month or two ago. I had few fish disappear in that tank. Including a German Ram. But as it was maintained by someone else I am not quite sure whether the body was found. Anyway now my gold saum 1.5” 4month old fry I put in there the other day around today mysteriously found floating in a “bent” position. I didn’t take apart and sanitized that tank after gourami death. I never really used any thing from that to my tanks as it was being kept for someone else.

A lot of (over) bred fishspecies have "developped" their own strain of Iridovirus, but they all have different symptoms and different outcome. DGIV is the most terrible one, but Rams, Angels, Neons etc.... all have "their own".

I still believe the mouthulcers on Neons are caused by it.

Lymphocystis is caused by another.

Do you think I should tell the person whom I am maintaining it to take it apart and start over. My favourite EBJD fry was there in that tank for a day. Now it is in a different tank with my prized fader across a partition. Not sure whether I should be worried as I have OCD haha

I wouldn't. The issues with the other fish won't be caused by the actual DGIV and could have had different causes.

Hopefully. I was just redoing a 40G breeder I grow fry in and my EBJD and Gold Saum fry always get bullied if put in a 20G I seperated them and temporary held them in the said 20G. Which has like 3-4 mollies a Ram(had 2) and some khulI loaches and Otos. When I moved back my fry to another tank partitioned with my Flowehorn breeder(that area usually hold female) this morning. I came back to see my gold saum fry(or rather juvenile floating) with body with a bent. Unlikely EBJD killed it as gold saum was slightly larger also EBJD even did good with smaller fish before and these two were living together before in the 40G that I am redoing. But my OCD really makes me uncomfortable. I even use dedicated siphons and nets across 12tanks I have never mixing even fishes are moved around very little. Hahahha
