Do I overfeed too much?

I have a 55 gallon with 2 pleco's, 5 tetra's ( added today) 6 jullI cory cats, 2 bronze cory cats ( added today aswell), 30 or so shrimp, 6 apple snails, 2 zebra snails, 4 emerald cory catfish ( two added today aswell). anyhow I think i've been overfeeding, if I am how much SHOULD I be feeding them and how often?
Been giving them
- 1 algae tablet in the morning along with one large pinch of my food mix which is fish flakes, sinking pellets with garlic, dried blood worms, and ground algae in it.
-one pinch fish food mix middle of the day
- 1 pinch fish food & 1 1/2 algae tablet at night.
on occasion I give them boiled skinned peas, I've been having problems with swim bladders, constipation, and over pooping. I know I've probably been feeding them too much

To put it simply, just start cutting back. With the exception of the algae tabs, all of the food should be gone within 3-4 minutes. Any food that is left after that is what you shouldn't be feeding. Having both constipation and over-pooping seems a bit weird since they are pretty much the opposite. The common treatment for constipation is feeding peas which is good. Like I said though, to start I would check how much food is left over after a 3-4 minutes and start cutting back by however that much is.

Alright, Thank you! Quite a bit is left over so I'm probably wayyyy overfeeding, vacuuming my gravel every few days is interesting lol

I find that if someone thinks they might be overfeeding they almost certainly are. I have never heard of anyone having a problem from underfeeding adult fish unless they forget to feed at all; fish simply don't need to eat very much.

I suggest you start feeding only once a day. I would also try to feed the sinking food in the same area in the tank all the time to see if it is being consumed. It also makes it easier to vacuum. Your tank is oddly stocked with a lot of scavenging species, so the eating within a couple minutes doesn't really apply. But if your feeding area is collecting a lot of stuff that you have to vacuum up, you are feeding too much.

Thank you! I will try that! I know I have a lot of scavengers, I just love them haha. I plan to have them till they pass then I will try other fish, But I just love cory's and they are so cute, great personality!

I love cories too, I have them in my two larger betta grow out tanks. Obviously bettas are my favorite, but cories are my second most favorite of the common species.

Your betta's are beautiful! I have wanted a betta for awhile now, But I know I won't be able to have just one. I'm thinking of setting up an extra 10 gallon for one and making it heavily planted Hopefully I will be able to just have one and not have 50 tanks around my apartment haha. when I get a house though... SOOO MANY TANK PLANS!
