Do I Need To Re-home My Corydora Long Island, Ny

Hi, I have a 20 gallon high (hexagon shape) freshwater tank with 1 corydora, 2 ACF's & 1 Apple snail . My African clawed frog's are still small so they aren't a problem with the corydora yet but I know once they get bigger it can be a problem. I was looking to get another type of bottom feeder to help with cleaning but was given the advice to either rehome my single Corydora to someone with a shoal or separate the frogs & get more Corydora for a shoal in order to keep my Corydora happy. I don't want any of my animals to be unhappy, I've had the Cory for a year now & originally I bought him, a bushy nose pleco & 4 glow fish, but the glow fish didn't last long & my pleco died last month When I got them I wasn't told that a single Corydora is considered an unhappy Corydora. I can't add more Corydora with the frogs but I do have a 10 gallon tank setup for emergencies but I'm not sure if it's an ok size to have multiple Cories in. If u have any advice or live in the Long island Suffolk county, NY area & have a Corydora shoal & looking to adopt please let me know.
Thank you

Cories really need a minimum of 20 gallon long... getting more would be over crowding, even if you go rid of the frog. I'd suggest rehoming it. What type of corydora is it?

It's a panda Corydora. Yea that's what I figured , I hope I can find him a happy shoal....

There are many people that keep pandas, you could also return him to and lfs, but be sure that they're selling pandas, as otherwise he will mist likely end up being the only cory in the tank again.

Yea I'm gonna try & find him an established tank to be adopted into, that way it's less stressful & he will be paid attention to, I feel so bad that I didn't know he needed company.... when I bought him and the pleco from the store the worker said them with the glow fish would be great together, he never said anything about needing more than one Cory.... I feel horrible for my poor fish I've had him for a year already so he deserves to be with a happy well established home. Thank you so much for your advice.
Have a great day!

you can see if a LFS can take him as well. I'm in the same situation I want to convert my 90gal freshwater to saltwater. However, I don't really want to trade in my fish just to be sold to somewhere who will likely just kill them. All I have left is a clown pleco and a BosemanI Rainbow. I'd also rather give them to someone I know is responsible and has an adequate tank.

I've had him for a year now & I thought he was happy.... I mean he seems happy. He does a great job keeping the sand spotless & he's active. So I assumed he was a happy fish.... but now that someone said "a single Corydora is an unhappy Corydora" I'm wondering if he really is happy or just seems that way. I really love my lil' guy, I want to keep him but his happiness & health is more important to me.

Corys typically prefer groups of at least 6 or more they are a social fish.

Yea that's what I just learned.... I guess the person at the store didn't know much about fish cause when I first setup the tank & went to buy fish to put in it I asked what was the best combo & the guy gave me 1 panda Cory, 1 Bushy nose pleco & 4 glow fish and said they would all make great tank mates & will be happy.... he knew what I was buying was all that was going to be in the tank & he never said anything about my poor corydora needing other cories Now I make sure I check Google before I get anything.

which LFS did you go to? I have some good recommendations on the Island. Most employees either know very little or will say anything to make a sale. So its important to find a store where the staff cares more about the well being of the fish and give good advice rather than just trying to make sale.

It was the Petland discounts in the Gateway plaza in Holbrook/Patchogue over by Sunrise hwy. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Never go to a Petland, petsmart or petco for fish. Many of the employees just aren't trained and/or knowledable with regard to their compatibility and care.

I go to pets warehouse in east setuaket they are great so is the one in copiague. Not sure about the one in Bohemia off sunrise.

Magic isle in centereach is good.

Country critters in Medford off 112 is good.

Those are the typical places I go with good quality fish and a decently knowledgeable staff.

I would def look into country critters again I can't believe they would go all saltwater and lose half their clientele who deals in fresh. Especially, since they had a pretty large and sometimes exotic freshwater fish stock.

I know right! That's what I said when the person told me that... I'm gonna check that for myself cause they had a huge set up of both fresh & salt as well as pond stuff.
