I never boil mine. I just wash it really well, cut off a piece, stick it on a fork, and drop it in the tank before the lights go off. Nice and easy . Just remove the next morning.

I put my zucchinI in a cup of water and microwave it for 40-50 seconds. This will soften up the zucchinI and "water log" it so it sinks. Or you can tie a piece of zucchinI to a rock and drop it into your tank. Rubberbands or fishing line works.

Your fish might not eat it at first but after a week you should be good and running out of 4 minutes

Remove any uneaten pieces after a day or two. Many fish will not eat it when first introduced; but don't be surprised if your plecos claim it for their own. Mine fought everyone off with the first piece.

The pleco is why I put it there mainly. The other fish really love the algae wafers too I'm afraid he isn't getting enough to eat. I read a few threads about zucchinI so I thought it might be a good solution for the pleco.

I buy both zucchinI and cucumber for my plecos. Bristlenose prefer cucumber; commons prefer zucchini. Not sure that's true for everyone. My family laughs at me because I give different tanks different vegys.

Good morning,
I have moved your thread from Freshwater Beginners to Freshwater Tank Equipment/Fish Food section of the forum.
I also feed my Plecos zucchinI stuffed with an algae, vegetable or spirulina wafer. (only 1 wafer at a time ) I just slice it, it's raw, I weight it and drop it into the tank. My Bristlenose likes his zucchini.

I feed zucchini, cucumber and peas all the time and my Plecos aren’t the only ones who enjoy eating them.

;D My plecos rarely touch anything either. Well at least the ones I have now don't Usually it's my shrimp, snails, otto, or Diamond Tetras that attack the veggies. I also feed cucumber, peas, yellow squash, and lettuce.

My BN loooooooves yellow squash. Pretty much all she'll eat. Spoiled thing... My Clown likes anything, except green beans. He didn't like those.
I only boil veggies if they either don't sink on their own or if I don't have a veggie clip available. I just do it for a few minutes, until they sink to the bottom of the pot. Then I cool them in small cup of tank water for about 10 minutes and drop them in. Doesn't take long for them to be noticed, and attacked.

Shucks my Pleco will come to the surface to eat the heart out of a cucumber chip and all I do to peas is thaw them out in a cup of water and pinch the skin off them when I feed. Guess I don’t spoil my fish as much as some others do.

LOL!! ya'll are too funny ALL my fish are loving the zucchinI and I got them some cucumbers today. Do I seed the cucumber?
My first experience with peas they didn't touch them. I didn't realize until yesterday that you had to squish out the inside now... they love them

I just cut the cucumber into real small slices and drop them in. I give them about an hour to eat what they want of it then I remove it.

You don't need to seed the cucumber but I find depending on the seed size they sometimes don't get eaten and sink between the gravel.
