Do guppies prefer others of same color?

I don't have guppies, I was just reading for fun and was curious if guppies cared about the color of other guppies?

 

I would assume females prefer brightly colored males because they are better fish to pass their genes to

 

I had a single clown loach once, and he preferred to school with the similar patterned tiger barbs than any other fish in the tank. So yes your guppies might care, but to be honest they will be perfectly happy either way.

 

With guppies, in general the females prefer the better colored ones if they're around of course.

 

I have a tank of guppies from different breeds and I can tell you that the males usually prefer the most fertile ones regardless of the breed/color. My male cobra kept chasing after a female platinum albino more than he did with the female blue grass. The platinum one tend to have larger belly. Then I bought a Japan blue female in which the belly is even larger than the platinum one and I also bought several other females of different breeds. Ever since then, my male cobra kept chasing after the female Japan blue until she died. After she died, my male cobra have kept chasing a female blue dragon more so than the other females.

On the first and second day of the arrival of my endler livebearers, I noticed that the male endler kept chasing after the female endler, but afterwards, like my male cobra, he has kept chasing the female blue dragon more so than the other females.

 

they're probably happy with whatever but I Think female guppies would rather be with more brightly colored males than the ones with less color.
