I keep seeing the guppies chase and gobble an ostracod but then spit it out. Is it not on the menu?

The little tiny dots that swim around eating the extra food. They're also called seed shrimp.

I've just been reading about this as I have guppies and one mature male shrimp and mines never been touched but apparently young guppies only do this to seed shrimps.
