Do female guppies eyes get darker as they near their due date?

I have a question...do female guppies eyes get darker as they are getting closer to their due date?

 

I've never heard of that before. But their gravid spot will be very large and they will get insanely fat. ;D

 

yea I know that but it seems like my female guppies eyes are really dark right now and shes kinda fat so I didnt know if that was one of the signs that you can look for if she was pregnant also or what.

 

I've never heard that darkened eyes is a sign of pregnancy. Your Guppy could just be fat. One of mine is always fat from hogging too much food! : Does she have a gravid spot--a large dark triangle underneath the belly, right above the analfins?

 

she does but its not really that dark so that's why I didnt know if she was pregnant or just fat.

 

Hopefully she doesn't have a curved back because one of mine had that and got really fat and died, she had a disease.

If it's really light, like a brownish color, then she is probably not preggy. I observed that in my 4 Guppies, even my 2 fry who have never seen a male livebearer, you can see the area where the gravid spot would be, just not as dark. I don't know why this is. If the Guppy is pregnant it will be black.

Yes, exactly.

 

Yup if there is some translucentness on top of where the gravid spot should be she's not pregnant, rare sight.

when my females went pregnant their eyes went darker so I think that does sometime happens when their pregnant.

 

I had preggy guppys which all had dark eyes and now most of then have given birth theyr eyes are a lot lighter
