Hi,
I just got my first betta.
I love it!
Easily the best fish I've seen.
She is so cute. Pink with blue fins. I got her fairly young so she is tiny and energetic.
I'll post pictures later.
So I am wondering if female bettas have a tendency to make nests? I have some plant matter that likes near the surface and it looks like she has created a space that only she can worm into.
Also, I want to put in a male betta with her for betta company, though I've heard it is a bad idea. It is a 10 gallon cycled tank, with a lot of plant matter + bottom feeders.
If I did do this, I'd try to get a young small male. However, most betta I see at teh store look pretty mature. On a side note, how do retail stores take care of their betta fish over the long haul? Do they keep them in those small containers for weeks at a time? Do they take them out at night at least?
Also, are betta intelligent? They seem to be a breed apart from other fish.
