Do Different Types of Angelfish Need Different Requirements?

Are you talking about different species? (Pterophyllum altum, scalare, or leopoldi)
In that case, yes. But I assume you mean the common types found in stores, which are all variants of P. scalare. In that case, no, they need the same care.

I think the super veiltails need higher tanks because of length of their fins. And There is also a wild type that the name escapes me at the moment but I think it begins with an M that does have some different requirements. Alison..Looked it up. Manacupuru wild caught anglefish.

For super veil tails, I would say more longer than taller. But their extra long fins are definitely something to keep in mind when picking tank size AND the stock to go along with them!! Good call Allison!

I only say that because my standard finned angels tend to be taller tip to tip. The super veil angels fins tend to not "stick up" as much as the standard fins. But they are very VERY VERY long. :)

No they should receive they should receive the same care. Those black marble types can be stunning. When do you plan to get one or more of whichever type you like?Alison

Platinum angelfish are stunning angels. I also really like veil tail angels.

If you end up with a male and female. The problem is you can't really sex young angels till they are sexually mature. That would be a stunning combo though. Alison

YAY! That will be a beautiful pair! And yes, same care for both.

As aliray said, sexing them is virtually impossible until they actually pair up. And if you do end up with a male and female, there is a chance they will pair up. :) But if you get them when they are little, it will be a while before you have to think about that!

Have you thought about what other fish you might like to put with them?

Yep I have it all planned out! My family is on a tight income and I haven't set the tank up yet. I have another thread for more info on my cycling game plan. They will be with 12 corys 12 black neon tetras 2 GBRS 1 pearl gourami, 3 nerites, or 5 (I'm debating if that would overstock it and 5 MTS to start with!

I would do 5 nerites as they can't reproduce in freshwater and over run your tank. The stock sounds good May I ask why the MTS? Alison
