Do Betta's like plants? Odd behavior...

I just put in a water wisteria plant today in my 5 gallon Betta tank.
Immediately he went over to investigate and several times I noticed he was like "entangled" in the plant! Or so I thought! I would shoo him away and he would freely get out with no problem. But after a few minutes, he was back in the plant again. Is this normal?
He is a male crowntail
He won't stay away from the plant for some reason. I didn't read anything that said they liked those types of plants or not... Just curious!

 

Well I am new to this but my bettas seem to love their plants, but more so any plant with a leaf that sticks out close to the surface so they can rest on it. One of them particularly loves to hide in and dart around the plants, the other seems more obsessed with his little "cave" I made him. I prefer the real plants so far because the silk ones don't look like they can hold them resting on them as much, and the plastic ones look like they could rip their fins. I ordered some silicone anemones though .. I will see if they look suitable. They shouldn't hurt the fins. At least with your real plant you're doing something for the little ecology of the tank.

 

Bettas like to use plants to make beds for when they sleep, leave him be.

 

Thanks just surprised! I DO have a hammock for him ( he sleeps on that ) as well as the other silk plants that have the leaves close to the top of the water. I just thought it was strange that he was getting all tangled up in the wisteria and almost like he was rubbing up against it.
It's all good then.

 

I ordered some silicone anemones though .. I will see if they look suitable. They shouldn't hurt the fins..

Where did you get those from???? Interested myself
