Do bettas breed better when it's raining outside?

Hello fellow fish keepers! It seems to be dumping rain outside right now. I'm thinking of placing my breeding tank outside, under my porch. Will they be more encouraged to breed in the humidity? I heard from a friend that, for some reason, Bettas spawn better when it's raining outside. Is this true? I'm really keen to get some fry right now.

I don't have any betta breeding experience, but looking at the fish as a species and the environment it came from it wouldn't surprise me for it to be true.

Not sure where you're located but temp would probably be a consideration to take into account for sure.

Its slightly colder where I am at the moment, but I was thinking of plugging in a 20wat. heater in my porch outlet. Might that help? It's around 67 degrees F outside.

Again I'm not a betta breeder, so please take everything I say with a grain of salt. But just going on intuition and a hunch, I would assume you'd have better success with this experiment in the warmer months.

Rain usually accompanies a drop in barometric pressure, and this is actually the trigger that will help induce spawning. You do not have to put the tank outside for them to experience this. What you could do is put out a container to catch some rainwater. Filter and/or aerate the rainwater and then add the cooler, softer rain into the breeding tank. The soft water adds another helpful trigger for breeding.

Thank you so much! That is extremely useful information for next time it rains!
