I personally don't think splitting a 5 gallon is bad. Considering the minimum for a Betta is 2.5g, they'd still have plenty of room. Not to mention the divider has to have holes or slots, small, but enough for the water to be filtered on both sides.Ideally a 5 gallon shouldn't be split for 2 bettas. It makes things on the right side. See if you can get a 10 gallon and split that. It's not much bigger footprint wise, then a 10 but they get way more space to move.
That being said, there are lots of cheap easy ways to make dividers. One easy way that I did was binder spines and cross stitching plastic mesh. Only thing is that they can't see each other so I had to do 3 lawyers of offset weave or they'd be glaring at each other.
Wow quite the divided ! It looks cool how big is this tank ?HI Emmy,
I had home made dividers in my quad tank for my betta fish. It was a slI'm plastic chopping board, you need to read the fine print and make sure it is non toxic etc though..
I think I have a photo in here somewhere.....
Yes thank you, there was glass dividers in that tank also, I used the blue chopping board so they couldn't see each other for stress reasons.. Oh now you have me thinking lol It has been a long time since I had that tank, I think it was around 30 liters which is 8 gallons. I think that is 5.5 liters in each cube.. So on that note, your 5 gallon split in half would be just fine for 2 betta fish, that's almost 10 liters each, much more room than mine had. With the mesh, its also a great idea, but be careful they can't see each other up close, it causes big stress to them.. Oh and one last thing, make sure the divider goes up high enough so they can't jump over it, I had mine jump over and get into a fight..Wow quite the divided ! It looks cool how big is this tank ?
If she can't get a bigger one, then it's totally fine. I was just saying that if she could, that would be betterLucyC if she can't get a bigger tank or didn't have enough room for another bigger tank it'll be fine . I don't know what her fish is in now but he will be much happier in a 2.5 than what he is in .
Same here Lucy I totally agree .If she can't get a bigger one, then it's totally fine. I was just saying that if she could, that would be better
This is awesome and a great idea! Thank you so much!!HI Emmy,

I have one Betta that is in a 5 gallon and my Baby is only in a 1g. I put him in there cuz he's still small but I'd like to give him more room as he grows. Also with limited space It's not possible for me to get a bigger tank.LucyC if she can't get a bigger tank or didn't have enough room for another bigger tank it'll be fine .
