DIY stand question

    I like the stand idea in this video:

    But when they talk about the middle supports, I'm confused. They don't say how they attach them. Maybe with wooden dowels? Or a diagnol screw? What would you do?

    I also plan to add horizontal supports if I go with this idea, to prevent swaying.

    I would use wood glue and a couple of really long wood screws through the top. But I'm not a carpenter, so that's not necessarily the right way.

    At time marker 2:36 in the video you can see how it is attached. With a screw on both sides, driven diagonally into the wood.

    I would say this is not a good design for a stand. you only have two supports that perform the function of a pillar. the four supports in the corners are attached to the upper box with screws, but are actually sitting inside the box This allows the weight of the tank and water to hang on those screws. Better is to sit the upper box on top of the support, allowing the support to form a pillar.

    Is MDF strong enough to be the top platform, or would it need plywood?
