Diy root tabs using 00 vcaps?

Has anyone used 00 vcaps (vegetarian capsules) to make diy root tabs as compared to regular gelatin capsules which contains meat byproduct? I'm thinking about using v caps but unsure of the results.. Whether it be the same or more better for my setup because its 100% vegetable based?? I'm also thinking about going with osmocote plus..seems like the norm for diy tabs because it contains micro nutrients as well as macros. What does everyone else use and what are your results?

I'm definitely no expert but I just made some with Osmocote plus and size 00 capsules. Just looked and the capsules I have are gelatin. I was thinking they were veggie.

I don't rhink it would make much difference what the caps are made out of.

LJC6780 yea I didnt even know veggie capsules were existent until I dug a little deeper and saw them. Kinda figured it would be a better alternative since veggies...plants...ya know?! Approximately How many pellets actually fit into a capsule? Another cheaper method I found was to freeze the pellets in small ice cubes and pushing deep into substrate? Anyway to save a few bucks I guess

Dave75g how are the apI tabs working for you? I was considering those but as I looked into it more, comes to find out they lack micronutrients? What kind of plants do u have?

smee82 yea I don't think it matters much considering that they both dissolve in water anyway. However, I was thinking becuz I was feeding plants..maybe a plant/veggie base would be a bit better for the water column? But further reading into it, I didnt see any negative remarks or reviews about using regular gelcaps effecting the water chem. So I guess its ok. However, iam looking into just freezing the pellets in ice cubes and feeding it as a cheaper alternative since I don't have many plants right now.

I've only had the tabs in for 4 days, so not sure. I have an Amazon sword, an Argentine sword, and a corkscrew Val

I didn't count but quite a few. Size 00 capsules are pretty big.

I use and sell Osmocote + root tabs. Never ever heard of standard gel caps being an issue. If you have any fish most are omnivores so why wouldn't animal based gel caps being ok. Fish food has fish in it. It's just nature.

For the record the gel caps I use say kosher so are ok for Jewish fish too.

Gelatin is a water soluble protein from boiling cow or pig bones skins and tendons. Its not harmful to your aquarium.
