I followed a tutorial from joey(king of diy) on how to build a pvc overflow.

I used 1 and a 1/2 " pvc and followed the video exactly.

So once I suck the air out using the check valve, it works perfect. Only thing is when I simulate a power outage by unplugging the return pump the overflow loses its prime and the air needs to be sucked out again before it will work.

There is no air leak and all pieces have been pvc cemented in place

Obviously if I'm not home when this happens? My tank will overflow.

Does anyone have an idea on how I can fix this? Or if I did something wrong.

Thank you
