Diy Coconut Filter

So basically I want to use

idea but instead of the bottle I want to use a coconut and instead of that material I want to use a mesh bag filled with something like siporax minI .

I'm thinking of taking a coconut that's longer, cutting the top, drilling a small hole at the bottom, putting in the airstone, filter media, the tubing. I would not be suspending the coconut, just putting it on top of something, somehow, taking care to not flatten the air tubing.

You need to remove the "meat", the edible part of the coconut. Otherwise it will rot and pollute the tank.

Absolutely. I've been using coconut caves in my Betta tanks for years, I know how to prep the coconut. Other than that though, does my idea sound doable?
