DIY CO2 system and light

Hey everyone. I built a diy CO2 system and it is working just fine right now but I wonder if light is going to kill the yeast cells.

I light my aquariums with sunlight (works for me and my fish) from a window. I put my CO2 system in a shelf and it gets some sunlight also so I don’t know if this is going to work in the long run. Can anybody please share their experience? Thank you.

Huh have a diy co2 system they get sunlight but not much maybe make a paper tube to put over it. Also what ratio did you use for your co2 I normally just use the Neo kits but I want to make my own.

Thanks. I just put one of my spare black backgrounds on it so it doesn’t get light. Also I finally got my DIY LED lights. I used 1.5 liters of water, 2.5 cups of sugar and 1/4 tsp yeast

Just an observation about your Co2..

I'd run the Main Bottle (mixture bottle) into a smaller bottle (gas separator), filled 2/3 w/ water then a line out from there into the tank(s), thus preventing an accidental burping of the main bottle and pushing the mixture into your tank(s).
I'd also pop on a Check Valve from the smaller bottle (gas separator) line into the tank.

Yeast is UV (sunlight) sensitive. So I would imagine have your Co2 Generator in sunlight might shorten the life span of the yeast life cycle, thus shortening the generators production..

Nevertheless, great job. !

That’s a pretty good idea. I haven’t been able to do the second lining and haven’t found a check valve but right now the CO2 system hasn’t bubbled uncontrollably. Never has done haha. But as great people say: “if something can happen... it will” so yeah... I have to improve my system before it crashes. I managed to cover the system with black paper and it has been running for 25 days now. I’m pretty happy with that. Again thank you for your recommendations.
