I just discovered this cool fish store right next to my local church which has everything you could possibly want, so I'm pretty chuffed about that

I live in a small town, and have to travel about 30 kilometers or more to get to the nearest pet store, but it is a great place. Only thing is, I can't drive!

I guess I'm lucky to have about 10 fish shops within a 20 minute drive, but my favorite is just 2 or 3 miles down the highway.

I have a little test I like to give fish stores before I hand over any money...

first I ask them about cycling a tank, then I chat to them about common diseases

If I get the impression that they don't know what they're talking about, I don't visit them again

That's a good system Rob

I stroll around the shop for about an hour or so depending on how big it is, and I listen about to what advice they give to their customers, the quality of their supplies, how many dead fish I see, and how many sick fish I see.

I don't mind seeing dead fish in feeder fish tanks but in other tanks I don't like to see dead fish I like this one because they maintain a 125 gallon tank and I rarely ever see dead fish even in there feeder fish tanks and the GM is really nice and has helped me save money in various ways and I go there every week and I am trying to get to know them so when I am old enough I can work there no problem

BE JEALOUS fish r friend I go there every day now to make you jealous ;D

The fish store is just a few minutes away by car here -- so far it seems like a really nice shop..... though they do sell painted glassfish :-[

I've also got the big name pet places around as well, all with in about 10 minutes.

you guys are lucky, I live on the AF base and it's a 20 min drive to the city. and they only have ONE pet store with a very small selection of fish. and then there is wal mart...those are my two places for supplies, and they are very limited...And the nearest good pet store is 2 hours away.....it sucks...

don't know...I've been to Iraq twice. I miss my son and my wife a lot. when I left he couldn't lift his head up, and when I came back he was walking around and talking. I missed my 21st birthday. and we're not allowed to drink there. so I don't know. it's a really hard decision.

I have an awesome store about 2 miles from home, https://www.preusspets.com/ , but they're moving to a larger location that's about a 10 minute drive which isn't that bad.

Petco and Petsmart really close, and then there's my awesome lfs really close too. I'm so fortunate to be able to be at a pet or fish store at least once a week!

Wow, I don't know how you can stand it Emma. :-\ I don't think I could live without Petco right near me.
My lfs is pretty small too, they just sell a lot of fish, and then a small really expensive selection of equipment. Hehe I must drive my parents nuts always wanting to go there though. ;D

Funny thing is that there is a Fish store just around the corner, but I don't go to them I go to the one which is about 45 minutes bus ride, only coz of it's variety and wonderful help ;D

Wierd. ??? If you ever remember, ask her what she bases this on, I'd like to know how she figures plants are bad for the aquarium.

The closest one is about a 2 min walk but it is really a bad one. The next one to that is about a 5 min drive.

5-10 min, depending on lights & traffic.

Mine is about 30 minutes away, depending on traffic. I don't go out in that neck of the woods for anything else though, so I have to make it a point to go there. There's a pet store about a 10 minute drive from home that I pass on my way to and from work, so I pick up supplies there sometimes. The other store is my favorite though, and I go to them for fish. That's also where I got my tank, stand, and other necessities (filter, heater, etc.).

Ok, I have a small store that sells a few fish meds, foods and water conditions 1 mile away, about a 4 minute drive. Next in line is which is 10 miles away, about 22 minutes or so...then, PetSmart after that. Its 14 miles from me, or 24 minutes.

Then, its www.bbpetstop.com, which is 30 miles/47 minutes away.

There is another store about that same distance from me, but in the opposite direction, that I've never been to. I'll have to go check it out sometime.

If I could get ...then I might be 5 minutes from my LFS.

Longer than five minutes drive, which is pretty depressing. One that is five minutes WALK away would be pretty great. And yet, it's not like I live in a rural area or anything - there aren't tons of fish stores around here that I much like - there aren't much at all, actually. I've found a couple.
