Disposing of invasive, possibily illegal aquatic plant?

I have a plant that was supposedly sold to me as frogbit, but I think it's actually water lettuce. It's grown quite nicely and quickly in my tanks, and some plants are six inches or more across. However there's just too much of this plant and it's illegal in my state. How can I get rid of these plants to ensure I don't somehow contribute to their spread?

Compost.

Just leave them in dry for several days and they will die. All aquatic plants will eventually dry and die if left out of water for long. Then just dispose them in the trash can. If they are dried and died off completely, they can't be invasive anymore or do any harm to your area or its local environment. Make sure they are dried and died completely. So leave them in dry for several days just to be sure.

I'd put them in a plastic bag, tie the bag off, then throw it away like that.

I agree with just letting them dry out. Or just toss it in a bucket of bleach or something

Yeah, dry them out, rip them to shreds. I'm not sure how well they compost but that could be a good idea.
