I dont know if this is in the right section but it’s a ghost shrimp and snail tank and i recently put my old peaceful betta in there for a “retirement tank” it’s 5.5 gal with a few shrimp 2 adult mystery snails and a few babies. well I thought 2 of my ghost shrimp gave birth so I was feeding kind of heavy with spuralina powder and now the tanks cloudy and the substrate which is black gravel is gross and I try and vacuum it but it doesn’t seem to get everything. There’s a bacterial bloom, brown algae and just grossness lol it’s a fairly new tank but it is cycled I do water changes about once or twice a week. Should I redo the tank or what

Try rinsing out your filter media good so it can grab more then do a good vaccuum.

The decor looks like it is artificial. If so just pull it out and rinse it off in fresh dechlorinated water or water pulled from the tank. This should remove a lot of it. Once done stop over feeding. As you can see overfeeding is worse than underfeeding.

Hopefully this tank has good filtration and can pull the excess food out of there. Put some poly-fill in the filter and replace it as it collects the excess food. Since you have baby shrimp you may need to wrap the poly fill around the uptake tube in place of a pre-filter sponge. We want to pull out the excess food but not the babies.

I have a sponge filter so it doesn’t do much but I’ll rinse it in some tank water

Youve overdosed with spuralina setting off an algae bloom it should go over time with water changes so I'd wait a while before any drastic measures like a redo.
Just a point for you when the ghost hatched they would have floated to the surface at this point the adults should have come out and because they were left they ate all the young

This sounds like we really don't have to worry about babies in the filter. I am happy you stepped in since I know nothing about ghost shrimp. Sad that they eat their young :(

I will be harder to remove excess food with a sponge filter. Even more reason not to over feed. :)

The snails should get to work on it straight away
