Discus Keeping

Hello all,
I am planning on getting discus, and I want advice for keeping discus from other member who have experience, if anyone has any tips for me please reply to the thread. Thank you in advance.

 

I wanted to do discus for a long time but the cost and maintenance schedule for juvies wouldn’t allow it (blame the kids).

I did a lot of research and spoke to people on this forum regarding discus.

Nope...wife and I spoke about it. We agreed that with kids in daycare and the amount of care that was needed in the first 6-9 months it be more stressful on me. Money became a factor as well. It's hard to lose a fish that costs $50.00 vs. a $2.00 fish.

I did all the research and stuff prior to the decision. It was quite interesting to say the least...maybe in 10 years I'll decide on doing discus when daycare is no longer an issue.

Ok well thanks for the help, I agree about cost but I’m going to be in the hospital for a while in a few weeks so I will be home a lot after and I will be able to do all the maintenance.
