So next week I am planning on getting 5 discus for 75$, but my question is what is better for discus, same color or different colors, or does it even matter. They will be 4-5".

Go with the same color but then the choice should be what you really want.I have always got of the same color and when they were adults always got at least a pair. Very long time a ago went for colors end up with all females.

Doesn't matter. There are certain strains that pair well and breed well together, and others that when crossed are not good at all.

OK, there are blue, and blue with orange hues. Or at least that's what the person said. I think I will go with one color though, just depends.

When you select the blue ones they shouldn’t show any stress bars on the body or the eye. After you bring your discus home quarantine them,Do not feed Tubifex worms! Young discus need to be fed 3 to 4 times a day. Regular water changes will keep your discus healthy.

How big will they be to be considered adults?

I believe 6"-6.5" is an adult discus, should be good with 2 feedings then, but 3 doesn't hurt if you can do it. I think discus tend to do better on more feedings even when older anyways. They can get up to 8" though.

This is not entirely accurate. A quality cobalt will still have bars.

I would agree that Stress bars are not always a bad thing. I have stendker tefe's that always show their bars as well as my cobalts (which are blue and could be what the OP is buying). beyond that it is really a personal preference.

I got 6 instead for 90$.
I got them from local breeder and friend of mine. She used to be the main suppler of angels and ect. before it closed down. She then had a lot of discus to sell for pretty cheap. Pics too come!
