I was wondering if it were possible for different strains of discus to breed together? Like would a marlboro red breed with a pigeon blood or white diamond with snakeskin? Just curious if any combination of discus would breed together? Or do they generally stick to the same strains?

Snake Skin, White Diamond, Marlboro Red, Cobalt Blue, Turquoise
etc. Are simply color morphs. They are all line bred decendants
of the original wild Blue, Brown, Green and Heckle Discus.
They should all be compatible for breeding.

Do you happen to know what combinations make what? Not necessarily wanting to try crazy combos. I just have 6 on the way and I have a blue turquoise now so I was kinda curious if they would try to breed and if any survived what they would be. So I have the blue turquoise now and have a white diamond, snakeskin, pigeon blood, 2 Marlboro reds, and a yellow golden.

Famous Discus breeder, Jack Wattley, crossed wild Blue Discus w/ wild Green Discus to create the modern day Turquoise variety.
That's all I know about it.
Back in the late 80's to early 90's I kept two Wattley Turquoise, one German Cobalt, and a few Asian bred Turquoise Discus. I had one mated pair who produced eggs regularly. Never had a successful hatch. Water in my area is very hard, probably had something to do with it.
